The kitchen is one of the places in the house that has the most water running through it every day. The bathroom is probably the only place in the house that uses more water daily. When you consider all the items in the kitchen that use water or have water running to them or from them it is hardly surprising that water damage and leaks occur. What is surprising is how often the water damage could be prevented by a regular maintenance.
Dishwashers, refrigerators, washing machines and other kitchen items that use water have one thing in common. In order to use water they have to have water running to them through a hose. Often this hose is made out of rubber or sometimes and copper but these are potentially hazardous materials. The rubber breaks down over time and we don't regular series of maintenance checks can break down to the point where your kitchen will be suddenly and unexpectedly flooded. The copper line leading to your refrigerator to give it water can often be destroyed by the moving of your refrigerator. If the copper line is run over by one of the wheels on your fridge rate it become crimped and eventually burst, flooding the room.
One of the best purchases you can make would-be steel hoses leading your appliances. These hoses are reinforced and designed to last much longer than copper or rubber hoses. They are also much more sturdy and less likely to be broken by bending or running over them.
